November 27, 2009, Newsletter Issue #304: Listening to Your Instincts

Tip of the Week

Far too many people marry without being confident that the marriage will work out. In cases like this the marriage often fails. Recently, a man told me that prior to his marriage he didnīt love his soon to be wife, but he married her because he felt she was probably the best he could do. Such statements are common, but they can be avoided if people will ask themselves a few questions prior to marriage: 1st) do I really love this person?; 2nd) does he/she treat me well in all circumstances?; 3rd) am I marrying this person because I feel pressure to?; 4th)Does this person treat me well in public and in private?; and 5th)Do I feel a deep connection with this person? These questions can help you avoid the pain of marrying someone who will not be good for you in the long run.
