Many times when something goes wrong in our marriages we are quick to point out our spouses mistakes, but we donīt look within ourselves. Looking within ourselves can be helpful in two ways. First, it allows us to assess what areas we may need to change. By looking at our own actions first we are more likely to change our perspective of the problem. Second, we may realize that we are doing our best and we cannot do anything to save the marriage. In my experience far to many people blame their spouse for problems when in reality they are the ones who are having affairs, being critical, or abusing their spouse. By looking within ourselves we can learn what the truth really is.
